What are “trigger points?”
The inside of the body is covered with soft tissue called fascia. This tissue covers evert structure including organs, muscles, nerves and blood vessels. The fascia that covers your muscles is call myofascia. When the myofascia is stressed from overuse or trauma it can tear and adhear together. These adhesions are called "trigger points" and can prevent the muscles from working well. Trigger points lead to an increase in muscle stiffness and tenderness and a decrease in range-of-motion. In addition, the discomfort from trigger points can radiate from the adhesion. What is Trigger Point Myofascial Compression™ Techniques (MCT)? Myofascial Compression™ Techniques are TriggerPoint revolutionary form of self-myofascial release that systematically restores tissue elasticity, end enhance fluidity and function, resulting in pain reduction, reduced risk of injury, and performance enhancement. MCT programming can range from general areas of the body, to specific programming. In these Trigger Point MCT classes we will specifically focus on the Ultimate 6 Areas—soleus, quadriceps, piriformis, psoas, pectorals, thoracic spine. The Ultimate 6 Areas for biomechanics are 6 muscles that influence biomechanics the most. By manipulating these 6 key muscles, your body can achieve structural integrity, thus creating a platform for optimal performance and injury prevention. |
